AAT has confirmed that its assessments will be ‘available’ again from Monday 29 June. With strict social distancing in place how this will work in ‘the new reality’ remains to be seen. One top training provider told us they would only be putting one student into their exam room at a time!
Assessments were suspended on 22 March, and AAT has been seeking additional solutions to support students and training providers. It has, says CEO Mark Farrar, been monitoring the wider picture around Covid-19, including the Government guidance and feedback from stakeholders.
As the lockdown shifts to re-starting the economy, AAT said it is “keen to provide training providers and assessment venues with opportunities for students to sit assessments and progress with their studies, where it is deemed safe and appropriate to do so within social distancing guidelines”.
AAT emphasised that it expected all training providers and assessment venues to act responsibly and ensure they adhere to all government rules and guidelines in relation to social distancing when offer an assessment. Guidance will be provided in the coming weeks.
Synoptic window dates have now been confirmed for the remainder of the year and include additional dates to help with planning and potential capacity issues due to social distancing restrictions.
These dates are:
Advanced Diploma in Accounting – Level 3 (Level 6 Scotland) Synoptic – week commencing 13 July, 20 July, 17 August, 14 September, 12 October, 7 December.
Professional Diploma in Accounting – Level 4 (level 8 Scotland) Synoptic – week commencing 6 July, 13 July, 24 August, 21 September, 19 October, 14 December.
The next Level 2 synoptic window will start in the week commencing 17 August.
That said, the AAT said its plans to develop and launch remote invigilation on a phased basis remain in place and it is still aiming to make the first phase available in August. More updates will be forthcoming.
