Employers beware – if you don’t have your diversity and inclusion policy upfront and central then you could miss out on the best accountancy talent!
The latest ACCA Global Trends Survey 2024 found 64% of UK finance professionals priorities diversity and inclusivity when choosing an employer.
A further 76% of Gen Z employees rate diversity and inclusion as one of their top factors when job hunting.
ACCA said this is a wake-up call for employers and said while diversity and inclusion (DE&I) strategies are nothing new they have risen in importance amongst finance talent.
Turning to Gen Z talent ACCA suggested that there is already a wealth of studies which show they are more principled than their older counterparts. They told researchers that working in a diverse and inclusive environment was even more important to them than salary.
Gemma Gathercole, Strategic Engagement Lead for England at ACCA, said: “The latest Global Talent Trends report sheds interesting light on the situation around the world and at home here in the UK. While the UK is outperforming in some areas such as offering hybrid working and mental health support, it’s clear that DE&I policy is a growing factor of importance for finance professionals.”
